Once upon a time, after a particularly inspiring lecture about books by Professor Willis Kerr of Westminster College at the Fulton Women's Club meeting, a group of citizens determined that a free public library would be an invaluable civic institution.
Members of the library movement began soliciting donations of books and money and formed a library association. On July 2, 1908, the first library in Fulton opened in rented rooms on the second floor of the Odd Fellows Building. Come hear the rest of this rich 100-year history of library services in Callaway County by long- time Fulton resident and Friend of CCPL, Carl Kremer.
There will be a short Friends of the Callaway County Public Library meeting before Carl begins his storytelling. Don't miss the opportunity to join the Friends group during this 100th anniversary year! |
