America's Music

The University of Missouri School of Music is collaborating with Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Daniel Boone Regional Library to offer a series of courses and films. Panel discussions will revolve around the question of what constitutes America's Music and examine the work of specific individuals who have helped shape this country's musical culture.

The films offered at the Columbia Public Library are free of charge and do not require registration.

These lectures and panel discussions are a special offering made possible by a grant secured by faculty of the University of Missouri School of Music. Since these events are funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, MU Extension asks that you remit only a one-time fee of $15 to cover Osher's costs. All courses will meet at the Stephens Lake Activity Center, 2311 E. Walnut. For further information and registration, call (573) 882-2585.

The MU School of Music, Columbia College and the Blue Note have also planned a series of performances of America’s music that will bring to life all of the history and American cultural heritage presented in the programs and films.
