The Making of the Big Muddy Riverscape Quilt
Columbia Public Library, Friends Room

We conclude the 2016 Quilt Exhibit at the library with a presentation by the creators of a large folk-style slice quilt depicting a riverscape in four seasons, commissioned for the 2014 Big Muddy Folk Festival. The five women who created the quilt will show us how they started designing the panels using digital photography and editing. They incorporated traditional patterns and reused fabric to keep with the frontier ethic integral to the overall design. They will also demonstrate the techniques used to create the flowing water and how they used paint to highlight the foliage. Just before this presentation, enjoy a tour of the quilts on display and some refreshments outside the Friends Room. Running April 2-16, the quilt exhibit is curated by Mindy Smith and funded by the Daniel Boone Regional Library Foundation.
