Stop by with questions about using your Apple computer, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Staff can answer your questions with our equipment, or you may bring your laptop or device.

Friends of the Columbia Public Library Lobby Book Sale

The Friends hold sales in the library lobby every Wednesday noon-3 p.m. and every Saturday 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All proceeds support library services.

Retirement and Your Social Security Benefits
Columbia Public Library, Friends Room

Staff from the local Social Security office will show you how to create an account, estimate future benefits, manage or apply for benefits, and get advice on many other topics including SSI, disability, name changes and Missouri Medicare benefits. At 2 p.m., we will move to the computers in the library's Training Center, where you will get assistance in creating your personal account.

Downloading Made Easy

Learn how to download audio files, photos, software and updates for your Windows computer without exposing it to harmful viruses, adware or spyware. Bring a USB flash drive for saving files. Knowledge of working with Windows files and folders is helpful. Registration begins Wednesday, November 4.

Heavy Medal: Mock Newbery Awards
Columbia Public Library, Children's Program Room

Help us select our own winner of the 2015 John Newbery Medal. At these fun sessions, you'll discuss Newbery finalists and defend the book you feel is the “Heavy Medalist” of the year. Library staff will facilitate, along with Nancy Baumann, a local educator and previous Newbery committee member. Sessions will be held Wednesdays on Sept. 9, 23, Oct. 7, 21, Nov. 4, 18 and Dec. 2, 16. Kids in grades 4-8. Registration begins Tuesday, September 1.

iPhone and iPad Basics
Columbia Public Library, Studio

Master the basic functions of your iPhone or iPad. Bring your device and your Apple ID. Basic Internet and email skills required. Registration begins Wednesday, November 4.
