The History of Women in Journalism

Hear about the history of women in journalism from celebrated magazine journalist and teacher Mary Kay Blakely. She has been a contributor to Ms. magazine since 1981 and was a columnist for the New York Times. She is also the author of several critically acclaimed books, including "Wake Me When It's Over," "American Mom" and "Red, White and Oh So Blue." Her essays have appeared in many national publications, including Mother Jones, The Washington Post, Glamour and Working Woman. She has been awarded many excellence in teaching awards, including a William T. Kemper Award in 2004. Co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women for Women's History Month. Reception at 6:30 p.m.
