Playful Storytelling for Young Children
Monday, May 5 › 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Columbia Public Library, Children's Program Room

Storyteller, author and educator Annette Harrison will take you step-by-step through the fundamentals of storytelling and demonstrate how to engage young children using eye contact, grand gestures and an expressive face, body and voice. You will sing, cluck, bark, meow and dance your way through these lessons. Her two storytelling resource books are "Easy-to-Tell Stories" and "Storytelling Activities Kit." (2 clock hours, DHSS-SCCR approved.) Adults. Registration begins Tuesday, April 22.

Communicable Disease & Head Lice in Child Care
Tuesday, May 13 › 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Southern Boone County Public Library, Meeting Room

Staff workers of child care facilities need to know about communicable diseases and head lice. Buffy Wheeler, RN, a nurse with the City of Columbia and a child care health consultant for Boone County, will explain the health risks within a child care setting and how these conditions spread. She'll teach you how to recognize, control and prevent the spread of communicable diseases and head lice. Adults. (Two clock hours, DHSS-SCCR approved.) Adults. Registration begins Tuesday, April 29.
