Clay Tile Mural
by Lee Expressive Arts Elementary Students, 2002
Two years of fifth grade classes (2000-2002) at Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School in Columbia worked on this clay mural which surrounds the main elevator on the first floor. The mural depicts characters from folk and fairy tales on the left and images of great moments in civilization and inventions on the right. Led by teacher Ann Mehr and visiting artist Greig Thompson, the project was completed with the help of numerous volunteers from the community and the library.
Funds for this project were provided by the Daniel Boone Regional Library Foundation. The Columbia Library District Board of Trustees also acknowledges and remembers the contribution made by fellow trustee Christine Cotton for her tireless efforts in making this piece of art a reality.
