"The Return" chronicles the reintegration into society of two prisoners whose life sentences under California's three-strikes law were shortened after voters approved Proposition 36 in 2012. This documentary, directed by Kelly Duane de la Vega and Katie Galloway, examines this reform through the eyes of those on the front lines—prisoners suddenly freed, families turned upside down and reentry counselors helping former prisoners navigate complex transitions. Shown in collaboration with POV, PBS’ award-winning nonfiction film series (www.pbs.org/pov) and with the University of Missouri's annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (2016, rated PG, 84 minutes)
