Kansas City Monarchs: Icons of Black Baseball

Baseball fans know J.L. Wilkinson as a trailblazing baseball promoter and executive who founded the Kansas City Monarchs in 1920 and was the only white owner in the Negro National League. He is also credited with saving black baseball by developing a portable lighting system for night baseball games. Join local author William Young as he talks about his newest book “J.L. Wilkinson and the Kansas City Monarchs: Trailblazers in Black Baseball.” Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
