The Motor City Muse: Writers Reckon With Detroit

Tuesday, September 19 › 7-8 p.m.

Fulton, William Woods University Library Auditorium

NOTE: this event has been rescheduled from September 25. In this year's One Read novel, "The Turner House," the city life of Detroit is never far from the surface, whether it’s the East Side of the novel’s recent past, the WWII era of the city that first Francis, and then Viola and Cha-Cha emigrate to, or the 1967 riot era. Many other writers have also built their work around Detroit. At this presentation Dr. Matt Dube will add detail to your literary map of the Motor City by discussing works by writers such as Philip Levine, Donald Goines, Loren D. Estleman, Elmore Leonard and Doug Allyn. Dr. Dube is an associate professor in English at William Woods University.

Registration: Not required.
