DIY Kinetic Sand from “Recipes For Fun”

  • 2 parts baking soda
  • 1 part baking powder
  • 1 part dishwashing liquid
  • Mixing spoon
  • Large bowl

Mix the baking soda, baking powder and dishwashing liquid in a large bowl. Stir the mixture until a foamy substance forms. Enjoy playing with the fluffy foam! When you’re done playing, add more baking powder until it feels sandy or doughy.

When children squeeze, pinch and mash the kinetic sand, they are strengthening the small muscles in their hands. These muscles help children to better grip items such as scissors and kitchen utensils.
