TumbleBooks – New and Improved!

Tumble Book Library logo

Has your family read with TumbleBooks lately? TumbleBooks is an online collection of animated picture books. The books are created by taking existing picture books and adding animations, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book. TumbleBooks offers fiction, nonfiction and graphic novel titles in English, Spanish and French. Chapter books are also available. All you need is a DBRL library card.

If you haven’t yet tried TumbleBooks, you might want to spend a few minutes exploring this excellent resource. There is a link to our TumbleBook collection on the left-hand menu of our Kid’s Blog – you’re already halfway there!

Recently TumbleBooks added several new features to become more user-friendly. Now you can search not only by title, author and reading level (both Lexile and Accelerated Reader) but also by subject, genre, language or Tumbletime (the time it takes the book to be read). My favorite feature is the auto complete, which can help compensate for typos and spelling mistakes when you are searching – or if you just can’t remember the exact title of the book.

TumbleBooks is a great resource for parents. It’s a safe place for children to visit online, it’s educational and it provides fun with no cleanup afterwards. Best of all it’s available any time, any day.
