A Note From the Director

Melissa Carr, DBRL Director

Fresh from some great discussions of "The Tiger's Wife," we're gearing up to choose next year's One Read book. Get ready to share your book suggestions in November.

One thing that fascinates me about One Read, our annual community-wide reading program, is the number of people who come together to discuss the chosen title, whether they liked the book or not. That kind of mix always makes for a lively discussion and it demonstrates how One Read events create community by bringing friends and strangers together around reading.

If you’ve read a book recently or heard of one that intrigues you, please suggest a title. We’re looking for books people will enjoy reading and discussing, that have a broad-based appeal to readers of different backgrounds, and that address themes, issues and topics that people want to talk about. During the month of November, submit your nomination online, at Barnes and Noble, any library building or on the bookmobile.
