Youth Outreach Bookmobile

The Daniel Boone Regional Library’s smaller bookmobile is hitting the streets again after being newly refurbished in 2003. The library makes regular monthly visits to the Bear Creek and Blind Boone Community Activity Center and The Intersection. The goal of this second bookmobile service is to introduce youth ages 2-18 in low-income neighborhoods to the public library and to encourage reading. The youth outreach bookmobile stops at community centers and other locations around Columbia.

The bookmobile visits each of these sites one or two times per month to distribute and recommend library materials to children and to facilitate library-related programs like book talks and visits from storytellers. We hope that by making regular visits and featuring new books and programs, we can help bolster the learning efforts of these children. We also hope that these bookmobile visits will encourage the children to visit the library facility on Broadway.
