The Missouri Building Block Picture Book Award, administered by the Missouri Library Association, is presented annually to the author and illustrator of the picture book voted the best by preschoolers in Missouri's public libraries. We'll read some of the nominees for this year's award and kids can vote for their favorite. Ages 2-5.
During these unstructured sessions, use library computers to apply for a job, write a résumé, set up an email account, get help navigating the Internet, study for a test with "Learning Express Library" or sharpen your computer skills with our excellent self-guided tutorials. Choose from Keyboarding, Mouse Tutorial, Basic Skills, Computer Basics, Files and Folders, Exploring the Web, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentations. For the tutorials, please bring headphones or purchase a set at the library.
The Friends hold sales in the library lobby every Wednesday noon-3 p.m. and every Saturday 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. All proceeds support library services.
On board, you'll find a full array of library materials and services for all ages. You can browse several thousand titles or pick up materials you've requested online or over the phone.
Learn how to download audio files, photos, software and updates for your Windows computer without exposing it to harmful viruses, adware or spyware. Bring a USB flash drive for saving files. Knowledge of working with Windows files and folders is helpful. Registration begins Wednesday, November 26.
Compete in a variety of Wii sports for a chance to win a gold medal and strut your stuff. We'll have treats and other goodies. Grades 6-8.
Master the basic functions of your Apple mobile device while exploring library services available directly on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Bring along your device, if you have one, and know your Apple ID. Basic Internet and email skills required. Registration begins Wednesday, November 26.
