Reading a book that pulls you in fast and holds you till the end is such a thrill. Don't you wish you had an inkling before you cracked open a book that you've entered another page-turner? You know that your next good read is somewhere in the stacks at your library, but where?
Click into clues at www.dbrl.org to reveal promising titles. Here you will find a number of different resources that give you a glimpse into what experts and your peers think about certain titles as well as what is currently popular. You may either explore our website at your leisure or read on. We suggest you start with our Books & More page, where you'll find links to award winners, bestsellers, book reviews and other lists like Oprah's Book Club, Modern Library's 100 Best Novels and Best Books for Young Adults. The library's catalog also offers award and bestseller lists and a host of other useful features for readers.
If you value the opinions of other like-minded people, take note that when you search for a book in the catalog , you can also read reviews written by library patrons that can clue you in to a book's magic or lifeless prose. For example, take this entry about the book "The Passage" by Justin Cronin: "I loved this book. It was suspenseful, real, and completely engrossing. Everything I have read since just seems lackluster. A beautiful mix of 'The Stand,' 'The Road' and a little bit of 'I Am Legend.' It is the first in a planned trilogy, but can completely stand on its own." If other readers like it, you may, too.
In addition to comments and an average star rating from readers, the catalog helps you find more great reads with the "Browse the Shelf" button. Click it to see other books by the same author or on a similar subject. You can also explore Subject Headings, user Lists or Tags for related reads. Once you're a DBRL cardholder, you can "Add a Comment" or rating of your own, use "Mark for Later" to keep track of items you want to check out in the future, or make your own lists of titles to recommend to other readers.
You've checked the award winners, read reviews and created your "For Later" list. Now you're set for many pleasurable hours absorbed in adventure, intrigue, insight, knowledge and the pure joy of reading.
