The library is proud to host filmmakers Kevin Willmott and Greg Hurd, both veterans of the Sundance Film Festival [1], as part of our monthly film series Center Aisle Cinema [2]. We will be showcasing their film “From Separate to Equal: The Creation of Truman Medical Centers [3]” at the Columbia Public Library. The screening will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14. This film chronicles the realities of health care in Kansas City at the turn of the 20th century when African-American doctors, nurses and patients were excluded from most hospitals. Discussion will be led afterwards by the film's creators. To watch the trailer and get a schedule of our upcoming films, please visit Center Aisle Cinema [2].
