The Columbia Public Library offers a variety of adaptive equipment purchased through a Library Services and Technology Grant through the Missouri State Library. All of the following are available at the Columbia Public Library. A TTY machine is also available at the Callaway County Public Library. To use a device, ask at the Information Desk or contact our ADA Coordinator.
Vision
- Internet Computer – with enhanced visibility keyboard and ZoomText magnifying/screen reading software
- JAWS – a screen reading program that enables you to use many software programs through text-to-speech
- Large Screen Monitor – used to access the library catalog
- Reading Machine – a flatbed scanner with headphones that reads text aloud to patrons
- Video Magnifier (CCTV) - view and magnify printed text

- Adjustable Table – wheelchair accessible to be used for adaptive equipment
- Foot Switch – allows patrons to input commands to the computer with their feet rather than their hands
- One-Hand Keyboard – a compact one-handed keyboard input device that replicates all the functions of a full-size keyboard

- Trackball Mouse – a large ball that replaces a standard mouse for easier use
