Here is a fun DIY project you can do at home with a few craft supplies and an empty egg carton!
WHALE
Supplies:
- 1 egg carton
- 1/3 of a blue pipe cleaner
- 1/3 of a white pipe cleaner
- Blue paint
- Black paint
- Paint brush
- 2 googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue
- Printed whale template
Directions:
- Cut out one egg carton piece (the part that holds the egg) from an egg carton.
- Paint the egg carton blue. Let it dry.
- Poke a hole in the top of the carton. (A pen works well for this.)
- Bring the blue and white pipe cleaners through the hole. Twist them together on inside of carton and curl the exposed tips for the water sprout.
- Paint the smile on the whale, then let it dry.
- Cut out whale fins and tail from the template and glue them onto the body.
- Glue on the googly eyes.
CRAB
Supplies:
- 1 egg carton
- Paint brush
- Orange paint
- Black paint
- 3 orange pipe cleaners
- Printed crab template
- Scissors
- Glue
- 2 googly eyes
Directions:
- Cut out one egg carton piece (the part that holds the egg) from an egg carton.
- Poke two holes in the top of the egg carton piece. Poke four holes on the sides for legs.
- Paint egg carton orange. Let it dry.
- Insert two orange pipe cleaners across the bottom holes for legs. Bend at the tips.
- Loop one pipe cleaner through top holes to create the crab’s antennas for eyes.
- Glue the googly eyes to the antennas.
- Cut out the pincer claws from the template and glue them onto the sides of the carton.
- Use the black paint to add a smile.
TURTLE
Supplies:
- 1 egg carton
- Green paint
- Black paint
- 1 green pom pom
- 2 googly eyes
- Printed turtle template
- Scissors
- Glue
Directions:
- Cut out one egg carton piece (the part that holds the egg) from an egg carton.
- Paint the egg carton green. Let it dry.
- Paint black lines on turtle shell. Let it dry.
- Cut out the turtle body from the template.
- Glue the egg carton down on top of paper turtle body.
- Glue the googly eyes to the green pom pom.
- Glue the pom pom turtle head to the shell.
