Summer Reading 2020

This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Imagine Your Story.” Our program encourages readers of all ages to dream, create and read with your library all summer long. It’s free, and we have versions for everyone, babies through adults.

We will have online sign-up for all ages starting June 15. Reading and activity trackers will also be available online to download for printing or to use on your computer or device. You can also request printed Summer Reading materials from your library via curbside pickup.

Summer Readers who complete the challenge by reading and doing activities will earn rewards in August.

Due to social distancing, we will not have Summer Reading sign-up in person at the libraries or on the bookmobile. If you cannot sign up online, call your library for assistance over the phone.

Group Summer Reading

For Child Care Centers, Clubs, Etc.
We’ve put together a special version of Summer Reading for small groups of kids like child care classes or scout troops.

Read together 25 times, and your group will get some free books plus a small reward for every participant. Sign up online, and we’ll mail you a chart for tracking your group’s read-aloud time.

Books by Snail

For kids in grades K-12, attending county schools
This service allows kids in our rural service areas without library buildings in their towns to borrow books through the mail. Any child or teen attending school in Auxvasse, Hallsville, Harrisburg, Hatton, Kingdom City, Mokane, New Bloomfield, Sturgeon or Williamsburg is eligible. Our staff can sign you up for Summer Reading and mail you Summer Reading materials along with your books.

Registration will open soon at booksbysnail.org. We’ll begin mailing books June 15 and continue through August 15.
