Did you just buy a new Windows 8 computer and have no idea where to start? Come to our informal session to learn about the Windows 8 operating system and get pointers on how to use it. You may bring in your laptop or device, or we can demonstrate with the library's equipment.

Come learn about Universal Class, an online library service that allows you to take any of 500+ free online courses on topics ranging from accounting, photography and landscaping to event planning, business management and writing. The courses are taught by real instructors, but you have Web-based, 24/7 access, so you can study on your own time. Basic computer skills and a library card required. Registration begins Monday, October 6.

Drop-in Internet and Computer Assistance

During these unstructured sessions, use library computers to apply for a job, write a résumé, set up an email account, get help navigating the Internet, study for a test with "Learning Express Library" or sharpen your computer skills with our excellent self-guided tutorials. Choose from Keyboarding, Mouse Tutorial, Basic Skills, Computer Basics, Files and Folders, Exploring the Web, Basic or Intermediate Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Presentations. For the tutorials, please bring headphones or purchase a set at the library.

Basic Mac Skills

Learn the basics of the Mac operating system for desktop and laptop users. We'll talk about the essentials of using your MacBook, iMac, or Mac mini including Apple's software for Internet browsing, email, music, photos, etc., and how to customize your computer to your needs. There will also be time to answer questions. Bringing your Mac laptop is optional. Registration begins Tuesday, October 7.

Internet Basics

Learn about popular blogging platforms such as WordPress and Blogger, and make your voice known to your community or to anyone on the Internet.
