April is National Poetry Month. The Callaway County Public Library and the Auxvasse Creative Arts Program invite Callaway County kids and teens to submit an original poem. This year’s theme is “America the Beautiful.”
After reviewing both state and federal firearm laws, listening to comments from the public and after careful consideration at the March 16, 2017 board meeting, the Daniel Boone Regional Library Board of Trustees approved a “Weapons Including Firearms” policy recommended by the library’s attorney.
Library Summer Reading is all about creating a better world this year. Help us encourage other kids to dream, create, have fun and read this summer! Design a bookmark based on the theme, “Build a Better World.” We’ll print the winning bookmarks and share them at the libraries.

What would improve your quality of life? That’s the question Daniel Boone Regional Library staff will be asking at a series of community conversations to be held in Boone and Callaway Counties. Everyone will be invited to attend one of the public gatherings or to answer a brief online survey this February.

Once again this spring, the Columbia Public Library will host an exhibition of quilts throughout the building for all to enjoy. The 2017 display has the theme Technology and Quilting and will take place March 27 through April 15.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, the fastest growing jobs involve science, technology, engineering and mathematics — the so-called STEM skills. Incorporating the creative power of art and design into that equation gets you STEAM. In our increasingly technological society, it’s important to encourage our children to explore the everyday applications of these subjects early in life.
