Read to Succeed

Adult Basic Literacy Program

Two adults reading togetherMany people take reading for granted, but 6% of adults in Boone County don’t have that skill. These adults struggle with many daily tasks like reading instructions, applying for a job or filling out forms.

Through generous donations from our community, the library is now able to offer “Read to Succeed,” a program to help adults who struggle to read. Adult students who are fluent English speakers will be paired with a qualified volunteer to provide personal tutoring and other resources to help them improve their reading and writing skills.

With improved reading ability, students will be able to unlock new opportunities for personal and professional growth with greater earning potential.
