The Daniel Boone Regional Library recently installed a new book drop in Columbia at The Callaway Bank at 1600 Chapel Hill Road. There are now five off-site book drops in Columbia and one in Hallsville, in addition to the ones at each library. People can return most items to these drops, such as books, CDs, DVDs and other library materials. Book drops are emptied daily.
“We want to make it more convenient for people to use their public library. Placing book drops near where they live and work makes it easier for them to return items they’ve borrowed,” said Amanda McConnell, Circulation Manager.
The library is also interested in placing more off-site Library-to-Go lockers in underserved areas. The lockers allow people to request items online and pick them up on their own schedule. The library currently has lockers at Prenger Foods in Hallsville and at the Holts Summit Public Library.
