Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a library card?

If you live in Boone or Callaway Counties, you’re eligible for a free DBRL library card. You can get a library card in person at any of our libraries or bookmobiles. Bring a photo ID and proof of current address (e.g. a utility bill). You can also request a library card online or via U.S. mail.

I’m trying to log in to my library account (for Hoopla, OverDrive, etc.) and it’s asking for a PIN or password. What is my password?

The default password to access your library account is your date of birth in this format: MMDDYYYY with no spaces or dashes. If you have registered your library account in the main catalog (e.g. to place holds, check overdues), you can reset your password online. If that does not work, please visit any library branch or contact the Circulation Department during our regular business hours at (573) 443-3161 to have your password re-set.

I want information about Daniel Boone. Can you help?

Although we are named after Daniel Boone, our resources on his life are very limited. We suggest contacting the Boone Society or the Kentucky Historical Society.
