Kits for Adults

The following kits are available for check-out with your library card. You can search for them, see their various themes and place holds on them through the catalog. They are housed at the Columbia Public Library but can be picked up at any library or bookmobile stop by placing a hold or asking our staff.

Memory Care Kits

contents of the "Movie Night" themed Memory Care KitMemory Care Kits are created for caregivers of those experiencing memory loss. Each item in this kit is specifically selected to spark memories, create conversation and provide positive and engaging interactions between people with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related conditions and their caregivers. These kits check out for four weeks.

Book Discussion Kits

contents of the "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" book discussion kitFor selected titles, you can check out a Book Discussion Kit, including a tote bag with 8 to 10 copies of the book and a customized discussion guide. These kits check out for eight weeks, giving your group plenty of time to read and discuss the book.

Telescope Kits

telescope kit from DBRLTelescope Kits can only be checked out by those 18+ years old. The Orion telescope is a 4.5″ altazimuth Dobsonian mount reflector telescope for use on a tabletop or other stable seating. Telescopes check out for one week and are not eligible for renewal.

Fiber Arts Kits

contents of the "Learn to Crochet" Fiber Arts KitFiber Arts Kits give you the resources and tools to learn to knit, crochet or pin loom weave. Each kit has a skein of yarn, a beginner’s book and the tools you need to create a small project. The kits are funded by the Verna Wulfekammer Bequest. You can borrow a kit for four weeks.
