A Note From the Director

Margaret Conroy, Executive Director of the Daniel Boone Regional LibraryAs we continue our celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Columbia Public Library and move through our library system’s strategic planning process, I am reminded of the core service that DBRL provides our communities — reading for pleasure. Part of our mission statement speaks to this: “DBRL strives to be at the heart of the community…connecting every person to opportunities for a lifetime of discovery, learning and joy.”

Summertime in particular brings to mind vacation reads and the Summer Reading program, as well as making time for the library’s latest One Read selection. Publishers love to share lists of “best summer reads,” and the big spring publishing surge provides lots of new books to choose from. For me, sitting outside in the late summer evenings reading until the light fades is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

If you are looking for your next great read, be sure to check out the library’s Book Oracle reading recommendation service or the book lists in our catalog. You can come into any branch and browse the shelves or browse our eBook offerings online with hoopla or OverDrive. We have something for everyone, so please come to the library to find your joy!
